It rained all day, windy and freeeezing!! Sato – san the realtor picked meup from the hotel and she brought me to the mansion (that’s what they call apartment here) and Junko, the translator was there too, looking cold.
First we had to do the walk through – oh my, what a walk through. There’s the remote controller for the air con / heater, the intercom, the water heater controller and the shower and bath controller. SO what’s the big deal. well, I had to write everything down since they are all in Japanese.
Then there’s the system for the garbage too – there’ s burnable – which is self explanatory – so that’s on a tuesday. On thursday it is the unburnable stuff day – this is where I need a menu – there’s the plastic bags, noodle plastic bowls etc, then there’s the PET plastic drinking bottles, the cans, the glass bottles, colored glass ….sigh! Each category has to be separated. I hear the neighbors go up in arms if the foreigners do it wrong!!
The Japanese are very into recycling. No paper towels at all in rest rooms, but instead everyone carries a small square of towel, lika a face towel only smaller with cute designs on them, in their pockets or purses to wipe their hands. I like that and I am gonna buy a selection so I don’t have to wipe my hands on my trousers each time I washed my hands.
In the afternoon, the rental furniture company came and carried in all the stuff that i had chosen. Most of the stuff are new! So exciting! Trouble is I need a translator for microwave, washing machime, dishwasher….
So we slept in our new bed, fluffy down comforter and white white sheets. Very hard mattress which Dave loves but gives me bruises when i lay on my sides – yes the mattress is that hard!!
We have luggage with our toilet stuff stored somewhere and has yet to be picked up. This morning Dave had to wash his hair with dish washing liquid – cos our shampoo is somewhere so need to go buy some.
Dave rented a Subaru Impreza!! He wanted one of those and the rental company happened to have one. It was scary trying to park it last night in that apartment parking system. He barely had room on either side of the spot. I doubt if i cna back into that tiny spot…..bicycle for me I am afraid.
I have washing to do but I don’t know how – have to wait for Junko to translate.
Sunny and gorgeous today! So I am off to recharge my pre paid cell phone (only have 3 minutes left) at the Softbank store and gonna enjoy this rare phenomenon.
Maybe find a noodle store for lunch ..also need to decide if I want to cook tonight.
I wonder if you could get one of those mattress toppers that are made of memory foam. They can do wonders for a bed.
How is Lucy faring?
