It was a lovely sunny day, for a change, so Lucy and I unhitched our bicycles and rode into town to a little gift store whose owner is also a seamstress. Her workshop is in the back of the gift store, choc o block with recycled kimonos. My friend Hiroko-san took me there with Jane and Julie about three weeks ago and i spotted a greenish flowery kimono which I thought might suit Lucy.
WHen we got there there were three other women, discussing summer kimonos and I suspect choosing materials for them. The kimono I liked was still there and one of the ladies happened to be a teacher for donning kimono. Women here actually take lessons on how to wear a kimono. It is very difficult to put on a kimono without any help if you are a beginner! We chose a beautiful orangy OBI and the kimono teacher helped Lucy with the kimono. We bought the set, and I wondered if we can put all that together later..
