Still jet lag – and nervous about getting up in time for the bus ride to Chitose Airport in Sapporo. I set my alarm clock, my new cell phone, the radio alarm by the bed and I called the night watchman and asked for a wake up call in Japanese! But when he asked me something i was stumped …silence…then he said “what room are you in?” in English! hahaha!!
After all that work on alarm settings, what did I do? I beat them all – I was up at one, three and then 4am and i just decided that i shd stay up til 6am.
From the town where Lucy is – I think it is called Hiragishi, the bus ride took about 40 mins. to the airport; it was raining but it was also a public holiday. Normally it would be an hour ride. From Sapporo, I flew into Fukushima. Took a bus to Koriyama, and then another bus to Aizu for a total of two hours. It was fairly easy and there was someone who could speak English at the ticket booths.
Aizu is surrounded by rice fields and mountains on one side. I could just see the outline of the mountains because it was raining here too – tail end of the typhoon that hit Mainland China.
