I picked up my registerd mail from the post office yesterday and it was the English instructions for our new Internet Provider. Yay! bet my neighbor is happy now that we are not sponging on their band width.
The yarn stores were just making themselves known to me! It seemed that everywhere i go, one would present itself to me, “Dot-san, here I am!!” One even has the Zara yarn that Danette pointed out to me in Reno JimmyBeans! And it was all written in English – amazing! I bought some pink yarn to knit my translator’s new baby a blanket.
Went to the Home Center to get a thick dowel for my shoulder physical exercises and a curtain for my bedroom window. If it wasn’t for the Japanese characters on all the items, I wouldhave thought I was in Home Depot. There are snow shovels, plants, cleaning stuff, wood etc etc.
I decided not to cook last night so I waited for Dave to come home – 9 pm before he came back. I was starving and eating my new furniture …just kidding.
I am reading a book called The Heart SHaped box by a new author Joe Hill. It is about this character who bought a dead man’s suit and the ghost that came with it. Pretty scary! I only read while it is bright and daylight. A soon as it is dark, I had to put it away although I did not want to!
Junko, my translator will be here this morning, so I could perhaps get some washing done. SHe is going to help with translating the manuals that my new appliances came with. Then, there’s the bills – which is the water bill and which is the gas etcetc. Simple things are so difficult! Perhaps she will take me to enroll at the gym too. I need to work out – been a couple of months since I really worked out. I missed my yoga but I think there is only pilates here at this small gym.
I am enjoying this little apartment. It will be a while yet before I can really cook a nice meal – so many things missing. Oil, oyster sauce, etc etc. There are tons of soy sauce looking bottles in the store but which is the soy sauce – that is the question! I have not found ginger but I have a source for my lemon grass – a Thai restaurant down the road. I have already chatted up the cook and he will sell me some lemon grass – bless his thai heart!!
